The Philippines, the archipelago that lies just off the mass- tourism tracks. The country that is often left aside by the thousands of backpackers that travel through Southeast Asia. Which makes it unique and preserved.

One of Southeast Asia’s off the beaten path’s treasures, with over 7000 islands, the second- largest archipelago in the world. With an estimated population of about 94 million people, the world’s 12th most populous country. The beaches are endless and the remote islands many. But above all, the Philippines is a place of natural wonders.

From Luzon’s Northern Rice terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to Bohol’s Southern Chocolate Mountains and Tarsier Primates.

The Philippines also hold some of the World’s most extraordinary Marine Wonders. The underwater world of the Philippines, situated in the coral triangle, where the marine biodiversity is the most developed worldwide, offers some of the best diving in the world.

Remote dive sites for the more adventurous.  With 50% more fish species than the Red Sea and the encounter with the very unusual thresher shark, in Malapascua. Fabulous wreck dives in Coron. Amazing macro in the North.

The highlight most certainly, is Tubbataha Reefs Natural park, another UNESCOsite, home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world, while sharks and pelagics haunt the steep drop offs!

It’s all here! A pity they’re still dynamite fishing.

Plus food is good and the people lovely and the San Miguel Beer, cost 0,50$!

My favorite country in Asia so far!
